இந்திராதி தேவர்கள், திருப்பாற்கடலை அடைந்து பாற்கடலைக் கடைய முயன்றார்கள். மந்திரகிரியை மத்தாகவும், சந்திரனைத் தறியாகவும் வாசுகி என்ற நாகராஜனைத் தாம்புக் கயிறாகவும் அமைத்தார்கள். திருமால் கூர்மமாகி மந்திரகிரியைத் தனது முதுகில் தாங்கினார். அசுரர்கள் தலைப்புறமும் தேவர்கள் வால்புறமும் நின்று கடையலானார்கள். அந்த நாள் தசமி திதி. அன்று ஒரு வேளையுண்டு திருப்பாற் கடலைக் கடைந்தார்கள். மறுநாள் ஏகாதசி பதினோராவது திதி. பாற்கடலைக் கடைந்தபோது வாசுகி வருத்தங்தாங்காது பதைபதைத்து நஞ்சை உமிழ்ந்தது.

பாலூட்டியதற்காக அம்மாவுக்கு பாராட்டு விழாவா எடுக்க முடியும் எடுக்கத்தான் வேண்டுமா அதை எதிர்பார்ப்பவளா அம்மா

தாயிலும் சாலப்பரிவுடையவன் அல்லவா இறைவன் அற்ப நன்றியை எதிர்பார்த்தா நம்மை படைத்திருப்பான்

நமது பூஜைகளால் இறைவன் மகிழ்கிறானா நிச்சயமாக அதை சொல்ல முடியுமா
தூபதீபம் காட்டுவதிலும் அபிஷேக ஆராதனைகள் புரிவதிலும் கடவுள் பூரித்துப் போகிறானா

மேதைகளுக் கெல்லாம் மேதையாக இருப்பவன் கிலுகிலுப்பை சத்தத்திலும் தண்ணீரை அளைந்து விளையாடுவதிலுமா தன்னை மறக்கிறான்

* ஆடம்பரமின்றி எந்தச் செயலையும் செய்ய வேண்டும். ஆடம்பரம் என்பது
அரக்க குணம். பொருள் உள்ளவனின் ஆடம்பரத்தைக் கண்டு, இல்லாதவன் ஏக்கம் கொள்கிறான். இதனால் விருப்பு வெறுப்பு உண்டாகிறது.
* பிறருக்கு நம்மால் முடிந்த சேவைகளைச் செய்வதால் மனஅமைதி உண்டாகிறது. தன்னலத்தை மட்டும் கருத்தில் கொண்டு பொருள்
சேர்ப்பவர்களுக்கு வாழ்வில் சுகம் உண்டாகலாம். ஆனால், ஆத்மசுகம் என்னும் தெய்வீக நிலை சேவையால் மட்டுமே கிடைக்கும்.
* சென்றதைப் பற்றிக் கவலைப்படக்கூடாது. வருங்காலம் என்பது நம் கையில் இல்லாதது. நிகழ்காலம் ஒன்று தான் நம்கையில் இருப்பது. அதை பயனுள்ள வகையில் கழிப்பதே அறிவுடைய செயல்.
* வேறொன்றையும் நீங்கள் செய்ய வேண்டாம். அன்பை மட்டும் வளர்த்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள். மனிதன்
ஒவ்வொருவனும் கடவுளின் குழந்தை என்ற உண்மையை உணர்ந்து யாருக்கும் சிறுதீங்கு கூட எண்ணாதீர்கள்.

* தியாகம் என்பது வேறு; ஒன்றை வெறுப்பது என்பது வேறு. ஒரு பொருளின் முழுமதிப்பையும் உணர்ந்து அது கிடைத்தும் எனக்கு வேண்டாம் என்று சொல்வது தியாகம்.
* தனக்கு கிடைக்காத ஒன்றை நினைத்து வேதனைப்படுவதால் வெறுப்பே உண்டாகும். வெறுப்பு உண்டானால் வாழ்வில் தளர்ச்சியும், சலிப்பும் உண்டாகிவிடும். மாறாக, மனமுதிர்ச்சியால் உண்டாகும் தியாகமோ மிக உன்னதமானது.
* சத்தியத்தையும், தர்மத்தையும் போதிக்கும் ராமாயணம், மகாபாரதம் போன்ற இதிகாசங்கள் நமக்கு அறநெறிகளையும், வாழ்க்கைக்குத் தேவையான படிப்பினைகளை போதிக்கின்றன.
* இறைவனை நமக்கு பிடித்தமான உறவுமுறை கொண்டு வழிபடலாம். குழந்தையாக, தாயாக, தோழனாக, காதலனாக, எஜமானாக என்று எப்படி வேண்டுமானாலும் கருதி வழிபாடு செய்ய முடியும். விருப்பமான முறையில் வழிபடும் சுதந்திரம் நமக்கு இருக்கிறது.
